What if I told you that many of the records dominating the Hip Hop industry came from a small group of industry musicians, producers?
For example, have you ever tried to make an 808 sound like Metro Boomin', Flume, Murda Beatz, or the Chainsmokers... But your samples or sounds just fall flat?
These highly coveted sounds can make all the difference between a track that REALLY slams, and inspires the vocalist, versus a track that's only just average.
Veteran electronic trap and hip hop producer Eyeoneyez told us: "I hit up a producer I've known for years named Form Theory. And he told me he was overseas running a small outfit of musicians, producing melodies high end drum samples to serve industry producers. I hit him up and he sent me a pack right away."
Eyeoneyez was so impressed he used a couple Producer Confidential drum samples in his 2018 release "Polar Bear ft. Gucci Mane", and Producer Confidential was born.
Sure you had guys like Splice, with their $6/month subscription who were serving the entry level market, but there was no one supplying high quality melodies to actual professionals working in the industry.
Form Theory, the lead Producer and Curator of this project explained:
"I mean if you take a look at the landscape you have these young producers who are nice with drums and 808's but they'll never play a melody with the subtlety and nuance like a seasoned 20 year flute veteran, or pianist who's been writing music his entire life."
Does that mean they should sit on the sidelines while they learn music theory for the next 10 years? Of course not. Producers want to start making beats, or even make money selling beats. And they need a professional sound right away to stand out. That's where Producer Confidential comes in."
"We saw a gap in the market and decided to create Producer Confidential. We would sell only to professionals who had a track record of making hits and working with major artist.
Since early 2018, Producer Confidential sounds and melodies have made their way into commercial releases featuring Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, 42 Dugg, Lil Keed, T.I., and countless others.
"These other sound pack guys can't compete. Their service is inexpensive and we've been told they don't treat their creators well. So they'll never achieve the level of musicianship we're seeing."
Recently Form Theory and the team at Producer Confidential have decided to open their little group to a larger audience.
We don't want to make it fully public yet, but we are definitely opening up some space for talented aspiring producers who want to take their productions to the next level, and truly achieve that 'professional sound'.
