The Association Records: Independent Powerhouse You Should Know

ARKAMP.jpg

Founder and President of The Association Records, Maricello Brown aka “Mr. GottisGotemAR”, has been building a name for himself and his counterparts for nearly 15 years. The independent record label progressed from what initially began as a music production firm, into a full functioning powerhouse serving as a parent company to for profit and non-profit agencies. Some of the agencies include AR Films, Bo$$ Divas United, Bo$$ Men United, AR Kares 4 All, just to name a few. As years progressed, the organization went on to partner with over a dozen other companies and to this day, continues to welcome more if the opportunities present themselves.  From Film, modeling, real estate, and security agencies, Brown has made a commitment to ensure he has touched enough industries to cover the scope of a one-stop shop for all of your music & entertainment needs.

Now, on the topic of independent record labels to watch, what separates one label from another is the actual delivery in servicing and exposure. Are the artists signed to the label organically thriving and becoming progressively growing brands or are they all simply just a hype factor with no real time results?

The Association Records is one independent record label that has proven itself in the midst of a pandemic, that relationships, hard work and the determination to succeed regardless of the circumstances placed before them are the key factors in continuing its company’s success. The label has managed to have both its secular and gospel sub-departments stay in the media spotlight through industry charting such as on iTunes as well as ensuring its project releases receive the airplay and attention it deserves.

In late September of last year, one of their gospel sub-labels, All Real Gospel Records (ARGR) released its first album titled, For The Love From The Sky, Vol. 1. The album entered the top 200 iTunes Gospel chart and soared passed top 40 landing at number #27, which in this business is rare to do without any major backing.

Then later in November, the label released two secular pieces; their premiere single, Monster Swagg Superstars and album titled; AR, Vol. 1. With careful planning to wait until after the holidays to promote, both projects found their way entering the top 200 iTunes Hip Hop/Rap chart peaking at number #53 & #77.

While the music industry continues to grow in numbers of rappers, singers and entertainers, the success of an entrepreneur trying to start an independent record company seems promising. The questions however that will always remain, is can the company stand against its competition when it comes to those who are actually making a difference in their artist’s careers or are, they too, just feeding them a dream. The Association Records is one company that deserves its own separate lane. They deliver, they care about their artist’s progress and potential and they have everything you need under one umbrella.  What more can an artist ask for?
