1. Hi NRBARZ! How are you? I am good, family. Thanks for having me for this interview.
2. Where are you from? I am from the Caribbean Islands of the Bahamas.
3. Why don’t you give us some details about the work you do. What do you specialize in? During the 9 to 5, I currently work for a local financial institution and outside of that, creating and recording music is a passion grind.
4. When did you start music? My household growing up was first becoming a fan of music. It was a fond experience on any given weekend or holiday. My mother would play records and cassette tapes. Then later in the years, compact discs from her collection ranging from rhythm, blues, soca, calypso, reggae, gospel and even a little country music to add to that. As I was exposed to a cross-sectional range of genres also on national and international radio weekly chart programs, as a youth, my interest in music started from there.
5. How did you get into music? I got my introduction to the music business in an official capacity as a member of a local group called “United” which consisted of a hybrid of talented individuals such as rappers, reggae chatters and singers alike at one time or another sharing a tenure in the group.
6. Who inspires you the most musically? I got into music after hearing about the commercial market & the underground side which includes the likes of Hip-Hop songs such as “Respiration” by a pioneering underground hip-hop group known as "Black Star" featuring "Common", which made me want to start writing lyrics and rhyme like those story-telling hip-hop songs like that of “Children's Story" by Slick Rick. Hip-hop artists such as Nas, A Tribe called Quest & the spiritual-minded hip-hop creatives that you may not be familiar with, such as the Tunnel Rats, Deepspace 5, G.R.I.T.S., S.F.C., Lightheaded, Jasper Brown and the Procussions, just to name a few.
7. Who is the one artist you wish you could work with? Neo-soul creatives are evolving in their lane. I would love to merge some hip-hop collaboration-wise and for real though, just talented artists who have found their lane and have that mutual respect for others in what they bring to the musical table for us all to eat metaphorically.
8. What are the challenges of being an artist? Finding that balance consistently to juggle the responsibilities of daily life commitments while still making time to create music. So, it's just being intentional while at the same time being inspired organically. Feeding on that energy belief is itself a God-given gift.
9. Anything else you want the audience to know about you? I will say this concerning your question that there is something for someone. Some songs I record may not be for you at this time or for you at all and some songs that I create or record might be for another but everyone can have their picks. If any of my songs connect with someone, whether in the present or the future, then I have done my job as a recording creative.
10. Where can people listen to your music? Please add links.
