It’s no secret that Kylie Jenner has serious influence – so much so that the 22-year old has been called upon by the Surgeon General to encourage her followers to be safe during the COVID-19 crisis.

During a spot on Good Morning America, Surgeon General Jerome Adams said, “We need to get Kylie Jenner and social media influencers out there, in helping folks understand that, look, this is serious, this is absolutely serious. People are dying.” And Jenner listened.

Sharing a video on her Instagram Stories, Jenner told her 166.6 million followers: “I listened to the Surgeon General this morning, and even though I’ve already been doing my daily reminders [to self quarantine and practice social distancing], he definitely encouraged me to come on here and talk to you guys. Coronavirus is a real thing. Please stay inside, practice social distancing, self quarantine. If you live with your parents, you don’t want to go home and get your parents sick. You might have it and not even know and be affecting other people. It’s serious and the only way to slow this down is if we do this, because there’s not a cure right now.”

She then added, “Nobody is immune to this, millennials are not immune to this,” before referencing new research in the US that shows that a large percentage of COVID-19 positive patients in the States are young adults.

Earlier this week, Jenner took to the Kylie Cosmetics Instagram page to share a message saying that she was going to use her “personal and brand channels over the coming weeks to share news, updates and recommendations from public health officials so that we can all stay informed and safe.”
