Fender Audio RIFF at NAMM: The New Revolutionary Portable Bluetooth Speaker and Guitar Amp Hybrid

By Tiffany Gaines

Fender Audio's Riff: The Ultimate Portable Bluetooth Speaker and Guitar Amp Hybrid with Unmatched Features and Sound Quality

I had the pleasure of attending the National Association of Music Merchants Show (NAMM) in Anaheim, California, from April 13-15, 2023. Among the exhibitors, Fender Audio stood out with their latest innovation, The Riff, a portable Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a guitar amp. During my exclusive interview with the brand manager, Michael Fiore, he shared their excitement about accomplishing the goal of creating a Bluetooth speaker that had as much “Fender DNA” in it as possible.

The Riff is a compact portable Bluetooth speaker and practice amp in one, with a host of useful features for musicians. It is a 60-watt, Class-D amp that has four speakers and two bass woofers. The unit has USB-C charging and a lithium-ion battery with up to 30 hours of battery life. The Riff app adds an alternative control for the EQ and volume, allowing users to adjust the guitar/music mix to taste, perfect for practice and jamming with.

What sets The Riff apart from other portable Bluetooth speakers is its attention to detail and passion for creating a product that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The genuine maple interface allows you to adjust the Riff's volume and EQ by simply sliding your fingers like you're shredding on a real fretboard. The Fender team paid attention to every fine detail, ensuring that the grill had little guitar picks inside, and the top emulated the guitar neck with fret markers. The bumps in the grill were even designed to emulate guitar strings

The Riff is a must-have for anyone who loves music and wants to take it with them wherever they go. With its unique design, powerful sound, and attention to detail, it’s sure to be a hit among music lovers and guitar players alike. The Riff is not just a speaker; it's a work of art. The attention to detail and the passion that went into creating this product is evident in every aspect of its design. Ultimately, it’s a great addition to Fender's home audio and guitar amp lineups, and we can't wait to see what Fender Audio comes up with next.

By Tiffany Gaines

Discover the Game-Changing Custom Ear Monitors from Ultimate Ears PRO That Are Taking the Music Industry by Storm.

During my interview with Ultimate Ears PRO at The NAMM show in Anaheim, California, I sat down with Philippe Depallens who broke down all there was to know about this revolutionary company that not only ensures quality but also peace of mind. I learned about their brand of custom ear monitors that is transforming the music industry. Founded in 1995 by Jerry Harvey, a former touring musician and sound engineer, the company aims to deliver high-quality sound while protecting the ears from loud noises and future hearing impairment.

Their latest product, the UE Premier, is set to make an impact that is aimed to be uncontested. Boasting an impressive 21 speakers (drivers); it’s the first in the world to hold this many. This translates to an unparalleled listening experience, whether you are recording in a studio, editing a film, or performing on stage.

However, it's not just about the technology - Ultimate Ears PRO understands the importance of style and individuality in the music and entertainment industry. That's why they have partnered with Sonny Blaze, a Beverly Hills high-end jewelry designer, to create the Coda brand. Coda offers limited edition ear monitors decorated with platinum-plated, 18-carat diamonds, or silver, allowing high-profile musicians to complete their look with top-tiered monitors that fit their style and brand.

With their latest product, the UE Premier, and their partnership with Sonny Blaze's Coda brand, musicians can now have the ultimate personalized experience, both in terms of style and sound quality. By educating people about this issue, Ultimate Ears PRO is helping to prevent further complications by catching problems early on before they become too severe or permanent. In conclusion, Ultimate Ears PRO is an innovative and groundbreaking product that is transforming the music industry, and I was thrilled to learn about it during my interview with them at NAMM.

NewJeans Become Overnight Fashion Icons

NewJeans may not have celebrated its first birthday yet, but the South Korean quintet behind hit songs "Attention" and "Hype Boy" has become a need-to-know name in fashion circles.

In March alone, NewJeans' members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein, all still in their teens, have inked a global ambassadorship with Levi's, appeared in a photo shoot for American Vogue and were appointed ambassadors for Seoul Fashion Week. And that's just as a group. Individually, Hanni represents Gucci and Armani Beauty, Hyein works with Louis Vuitton, Danielle was tapped by Burberry and YSL Beauty, while Minji is an ambassador for Chanel in three divisions: fashion, beauty and watches and jewelry.

These luxury brands are anticipating hefty returns from lovers of Korean music, movies and TV shows. The number of "hallyu" (or "Korean Wave") fans exceeded 178 million last year, according to a report by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs-affiliated Korea Foundation, up from 156 million in 2021 and nearly 20 times the fan population 11 years ago.

Data from social media analytics agency LaunchMetrics shows that K-pop stars are regularly some of the top drivers of engagement and subsequently revenue for brands. When Cartier announced Blackpink's Jisoo as brand ambassador, for instance, that social media post generated $3 million in media value for the brand, and when BTS attended the 2022 Grammy Awards dressed in Louis Vuitton the appearance generated $6.4 million of value for the label.

Brands have plenty of options: NewJeans is one of more than a dozen K-pop acts to launch last year, including Mimiirose, Fifty Fifty and Le Sserafim. Many are looking to fill the void left by BTS, which has temporarily disbanded until around 2025 while its members undertake their mandatory military service. Meanwhile, top acts like Blackpink and Twice are embarking on global tours as the live events calendar returns to its pre-pandemic form.

RedrumSociety Set to Rock Lake Worth

RedrumSociety is often compared to bands like Imagine Dragons and Smashing Pumpkins. Their slightly acid sound is said to be “A rock that takes inspiration from the past but at the same time manages to be modern and innovative”. Zach Cohen, recently relaunched the band after a hiatus that saw the singer and guitarist return to his home state of Florida to concentrate on his sobriety.

Original member Zach Cohen started the band in high school, but after spiraling into a drug-induced downfall, he took a three-year break to recollect himself. The versatile alternative band has had tracks to hit the Pop, Blues, and Alternative charts, and their latest single, “Have Some” is destined for the same success.

RedrumSociety was founded in 2008 out of South Florida by four friends, Dylan Lerner, Esdras Raymond, Esperanzo (Espo) Wilcox, and Zach Cohen. The four high school friends came from different backgrounds but bonded through their connection together in making music. The original members are no longer together but Zach decided to honor his friends, Dylan, Esdras, and Espo, and keep true to the original spirit and attitude of RedrumSociety.

Zach started playing the guitar when he was 14 and he immediately started writing songs. He was inspired to begin writing by Bob Dylan’s song “Maggie’s Farm.” He also draws inspiration from Hank Williams Sr., Lou Reed, Dion, Parliament, Funkadelic, and Robert Johnson.

Today, RedrumSociety is made up of frontman Zach Cohen, on guitar and vocals, Andrew Platt on keyboards and vocals, Sean Chesal on drums and vocals, and Ruddy Simon on bass. The band is currently independent and works to help people have feelings of comradery and togetherness. King & Prince Tops Charts With “Ichiban”

King & Prince released their fourth album, “Made in.” They announced the album in April during a MC segment at the first of their Tokyo Dome dates. The title “Made in” has several different meanings, those being “‘Made in’ JAPAN”, “‘Made in’ Johnny’s”, and “‘Made in’ King & Prince.” The concept of the album is “What you can do now to make yourself happy.”

Playing off of the “‘Made in’ JAPAN” theme, the album art for “Made in” features the group standing in front, in between, and behind a noren, the traditional Japanese curtain hung in doorways. King & Prince are in effect welcoming listeners in. This play on tradition also ties into the “‘Made in’ Johnny’s” theme, with the group essentially inheriting the tradition of Johnny & Associates.

“Made in” contain 16 songs (17 in the regular edition), including the singles “Koifuru Tsukiyo ni Kimi Omou”, “Lovin’you”, and “Odoru You ni Jinsei wo.” It will also include a ballad written and composed by the group, “Dream in.”

BGYO showed off their dance moves while singing their popular track “The Baddest,” on MTV Asia’s YouTube channel yesterday, Dec. 26. MTV Jammin’” is MTV Asia’s weekly series which features stripped down performances of various artists.

“Thank you MTV Asia for featuring us on ‘MTV Jammin,’ we are BGYO!” the group said.

Aside from “The Baddest,” BGYO also performed their song “Magnet” on “MTV Jammin'” last Thursday, Dec. 22. Both performances for the series were filmed in New York.

Meanwhile, BINI sang and danced to their song “Strings” last Saturday, Dec. 24. This is a follow-up to another episode of “MTV Jammin'” where the group performed “Na Na Na.”

“It’s everybody’s first time here at New York. First of all, it’s very very cold here. Everyone is shivering and freezing and it’s very different from the Philippines, but we love it here,” the group said. “We love how it’s very bright and there’s so many lights here, so many people too.”

South Korean Music Sales Exploded the First Half of 2022

South Korean music sales exploded by 31.7 percent during the first half of 2022, the Korean creative content agency reveals — behind only film, pulling ahead of all other forms of entertainment (comics, games, broadcasting, publishing, and animation).

Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) published its report for 2022’s first half, revealing incredible growth in South Korea’s music industry. Revenues grew by 31.7% year-on-year, behind only films, where sales increased 58.1%.

Additionally, music export revenues increased 26.2% year-on-year thanks to K-Pop’s continued international success with artists such as BTS and Blackpink. The Korean entertainment sector as a whole has experienced tremendous growth in the first half of 2022, with fans eager to return to movie theaters and live performances.

While KOCCA’s report only covers the first half of 2022, some of BTS’ most significant accomplishments for the year occurred later, which speaks to the group’s staying power. They were the IFPI’s Global Recording Artist of the Year in 2020 and 2021, and the June 2022 release of their album Proof brought the already-successful group even more acclaim. Their live-streamed concert in Busan attracted more than 49 million viewers in October.

2022 has also been a banner year for Blackpink, whose international success has indeed rocketed them to the top of South Korean pop stars. They became the first music artist to reach 75 million YouTube subscribers, and both they and BTS held official YouTube Shorts challenges to encourage fan participation.

K-Pop has seen such success globally, thanks largely to the prevalence of streaming, enabling groups to cast a wider net and gain more fans in the West. But physical album sales for the genre have been similarly impressive.

Researchers at South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Securities claim that in May alone, nearly 10 million K-Pop albums were sold. Notably, 48% of those were artists signed under Hybe, including Seventeen and TXT, who had just released new albums that month and accounted for a large portion of the sales.

Pusha T Confirms He’s Cut All Ties With Kanye West

Pusha T has publicly cut ties with Kanye West’s former record label G.O.O.D. Music, which he first joined in 2010, and remained with through the release of his 2022 Grammy-nominated album “It’s Almost Dry.”

In 2015, Pusha became the president of G.O.O.D., but in a new interview with XXL, he confirmed his affiliation with the label was cut following West’s outspoken descent into antisemitism. The company’s parent label, Def Jam, ended its business relationship with G.O.O.D. in late October and clarified that its working relationship with West ended in 2021. Pusha now shares a 50/50 deal directly with Def Jam for his music and is under his own label, Heir Wave Music Group.

The rapper told the publication that he hasn’t spoken to West since he articulated his disappointment with him in a November interview. “I was still on tour. I just expressed myself. I express myself to him a lot. He expressed his thoughts to me,” he said. “And he got off the phone saying, ‘Thank you. I know you don’t agree with me, but you never kill me in the public. And some people can’t wait to do that.'”

When asked about West’s appearances on far-right shows and podcasts, he responded that it was “nothing to tap dance around. It’s wrong. Period. But to me, it’s just me and him having a difference of opinion yet again.”

He continued: “If you ain’t with it, you ain’t down. And I ain’t with it. I’m not budging on that. I’m not with it. I heard about this new stuff [on “Infowars“]. I don’t know. It’s something that just sort of tells me he’s not well, at the same time. I will say that. It’s going to places where it’s no way to move around it.”

He recalled having disagreed with West in 2016 following his public support for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign: “People gotta remember, too. This isn’t new for me, when it comes to disagreeing with him politically and things like that.
