Chekx Releases New Visual "Beautiful (Viral Video)" : Watch

DSC_3462 (1).jpg

We recently caught up with the amazingly talented, national recording artist, Chekx to catch a glimpse of his musical journey. The Kingston native has shown his fans that not only is he a man of purpose, talent and passion behind his craft, but he is also a determined entrepreneur pursuing expansion of his brand and talent into the likes of Rasta Steve where he was featured on his album, “Like A Yardie” on the track titled  “Cellular”. Sooner after, he collaborated with the 7 times Grammy considered, Budukusu on a hardcore dancehall track titled “Give Thanks”. Below were some of the questions we asked him.

1) How did your name come about?

  • My oldest brother is called Trex, so I mimicked the name to Chex but had to choose Chekx because of the Chexmix Cereal

2) When did you start your love for your craft?

  • I been singing in both the church and school choir since I was a child. My sister was always singing around me while my brothers always listened to various types of music of different genres, so music has always been around me.

3) What made you decide you wanted to pursue a career in music?

  • My friend, Jah Caution, who passed away. He was talented and I wanted to get him out there so I started producing a few beats and outsourcing other producers so I could gain him recognition. As we vibed together, I started constructing my own lyrics and flows to inspire him as he inspired me.

4) How do you usually come up with the concepts of your projects? Tell us the meaning and vision behind the four songs you've created?

  • It's all about life experiences. The 'past' what I been through as a person, the decisions I made then that curved me into the man I am now and where I see myself in the future. Also, seeing through other people's perspective and not just mine.

5) What are your plans for the future?

  • Achieving my objectives, goals, visons and dreams. Earning enough to take care of my family and loved ones. Giving back to the poor and needy.

His most recent video "Beautiful (Viral Video)" has already begun to make great progress hitting over 10,000 views in less than two weeks. Click play to see the visual behind the man giving hope to "feel good" music.

The Rise Of Carson Attaway

New Blog.jpg

Billy Joel once said that he thinks “music in itself is healing… it’s an explosive expression of humanity” and Attaway creates art that lives up to this expression in every sense.

To the Little Rock, Arkansas native, music is a lot more than a hobby. Losing his mother at the hands of his father at the age of 13, Attaway found himself battling through adversity that most couldn’t even imagine. The extreme trauma turned the young kid’s reality into a nightmare. He found that music provided an escape from the darkness that was his reality, letting his deep emotions flow over beats.

Cover 2.jpg

At 18, Attaway has found true passion, coupled with raw talent, that has stimulated the evolution of his music career thus far. His unique sound and superior lyricism allows him to connect and resonate with his fans through rap music with finesse. His presence in the industry was solidified when he released his debut project ‘The Come Up’ that has accounted for 600,000+ streams to date on Spotify alone, not to mention the 17,000 followers on Instagram and almost 50,000 followers on TikTok that came with it. As he continues to gain exposure and grow his fanbase, he intends to inspire his audience to do what they love without regret and chase after their dreams.

Cover.jpg

The release of Attaway’s most recent single ‘Butterflies’ reinforced his position as an artist and proved that he is in the game to stay. He uses his superb lyricism and melodic flow to create a relatable song that expresses the feeling of nervousness that occurs when you are in the presence of the significant other that catches your attention. Everybody knows them.

Attaway has the talent to leave a significant impact on the rap game and intends to use his platform to impact as many lives possible in a positive way. He’s lived through a nightmare that has allowed him to live his dreams. As he continues to develop he is not someone you will want to miss, check out his work and support him before the entire world does!

I was born Nelson Gabriel Alvarez in Puerto Rico. My artist stage name is Ayyo Yung Gotti. The name Gotti comes from “God Only Talk Through Intelligence” and I am keeping my head high for God’s glory.

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

When I was 13 y.o, I would get into rap battles all the time, and I realized I was good at it. Little did I know it at the time, but this would be the key to me striving to move forward with my rap career.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

The Rapper Big Pun...and may his soul Rest In Peace.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

It was a fledgling idea when I heard the track from JamMar Moguls’s “Rising Star Producer” Aaron Peil.

Aaron needed someone to do the rap for the track he produced, and he came to me with the idea “Turkey Butt.”

This song is a shout-out to all the intelligent, strong, independent ladies out there who are proud of their beautiful “junk in the trunk”.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

I’ve had a rough life. I have been out on the streets and living on my own since age 14. I’m trying to get my life straightened out now. My greatest attributes has been my grind. I grind all the time. I’m busy performing and working on shows (even through this coronavirus). I’m constantly working on my craft and putting out new music.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I will let my fans and others judge for themselves my artistry and work.

What are your plans for the near future?

Grammy, Grammy, Grammy.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank? Any shout outs?

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit and my manager, James Raymond....without them none of this would be happening. I’d also like to thank the team at JamMar Moguls, especially Executive Marketing Director, Jamaica Johnson, and JamMar Moguls CEO/Creative Director, Marlana T. Alden. These are the people that are making it happen for me.

Come December 10, 2020, at 1 pm; Turkey Butt will be premiering on YouTube. Ayyo Yung Gotti hopes to use rap and clever lyrics to inspire young people to greatness. He also wants to be seen as a driving force in the music industry, inventing trends, and shaping history.

RedrumSociety Fights His Way Back to Number One

For RedrumSociety, one of the hottest alternative bands in 2020, the road to success hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride. Founded by a group of high school friends in 2008, the band was rising fast but collapsed under the leadership of front man, Zach Cohen, with troubles facing him from seemingly every angle, the singer/songwriter/guitarist went into hiding from 2015 to 2019, bringing the band with him into the hiatus. In the span, RedrumSociety only quietly released one song, “Trust Fund Girls.”

In 2016, Zach checked into a rehab facility, slowly and quietly turning his life around and clearing the wreckage of his past. Unbeknownst to him at the time, these steps led Zach to RedrumSociety’s turnaround as he now has successfully mounted a full-fledged comeback. Since then, he has written and released such songs as “How I Cope,” “Ego,” “Crumble,” and most recently, the “Street Fights” EP—All of which enjoyed success on the charts in their respective genres.

The new album is somewhat of a break off from the traditional RedrumSociety theme that Zach portrays which is his role of the victim in his various relationships with women. Instead, the album sheds light on the chaos of the social and political turmoil 2020 has seen, through Cohen’s eyes. Zach says the single track; “Street Fights” was inspired by the 1968 song “Street Fighting Man” by the Rolling Stones. The last two focus on his failed relationship as a result of the quarantine.

The album and the single, “Street Fights” both reached the number one position on the iTunes Blues charts. Since the band was founded in 2008, a member has died, some have been arrested, some gun shot. They were at a time disbanded, hiding, and reeling. For all Zach and RedrumSociety has been through, they have shown the ability to fight for survival by continuing to write songs and perform, keeping their fanbase growing more and more as they push through obstacles, both internally and externally.

Zone5Brody: Darrell Andre Ward Jr. and I'm 29

Zone5Brody: I've been going by Brody since I was about 14(2005). I had a situation in juvenile detention center (Schuman Center) where an older friend of mine referred to me as that and since then it stuck. When I was younger I tried to mend it into my stage name with no thought behind it or anything and went by Yung Brody. Now I have actually given thought to the name I represent my city and the side of the city I'm from Pittsburgh’s Eastside Zone5. (Zone5Brody)

Revolver: Where are you from?

Zone5Brody: I am from the EastSide of Pittsburgh PA. I was raised in Stanton heights but my father was from HomeWood as well as my family.

Revolver: Why did you first start making music?

Zone5Brody: When I was little, I remember everything being such a vibe and everything being so much more fun. Everywhere I went people were in there drop tops playin  Biggie, Pac, Run DMC even Feel Good music from Marvin Gaye to The Whispers. Everyone was always outside playing Music at Family function, just chillin or in the house bumping Music of they’re Sony home Speaker System with a Pair of 15’s hooked up, but no matter were I went there was music. So I would say its clear it impact it had on me.

Revolver: Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?

Zone5Brody: So who inspired me the most as a artist would have to be a variation of artist like Gucci Mane, Lil Boosie, Slim Dunkin, Chief Keef, Juice Wrld and the list goes on because I respect hard work and good music, but G Herbo is the artist that inspired me to take the brakes of and go get it for surely.

Here’s the best music distribution services and companies with details on why in 2020

Distribution Photo.jpg

In 2020, there are many distribution companies that artists, managers and label owners can consider to distribute through but some say there are perks that rule over others, especially as we lead into the future of music and technology advancing.

While keeping 100% of your royalties is vital when it comes to looking out for the best interest of your music, sometimes it’s best to educate yourself on all of their fees and what exactly these terms truly mean when it comes to making your final decision. Majority of them say they don’t take anything from your royalties, however it’s best to do your research before you accept what you read as true.

Here’s the best music distribution services and companies out there today:

  1. SS Global Entertainment (Rated as the number 1 company to work with because the founder, Tiffany Gaines, actually provides coaching and guidance for each artist on how to earn, learn the ins and outs of the business, as well as offers a blueprint of services at wholesale discounts once you sign.) There’s a 70/30 split with the artist taking 70% but provides a payout strategy that currently pays the highest compared to all service fee distributors annually. They also have programs that allow the artist to earn more simply from being a member.

  2. Amada Records (Rated as the number 2 best choice as they serve as a partner with SS Global Entertainment offering similar services and the same percentage breakdown.

  3. TuneCore They state an artist keeps 100% Revenue (however please read the fine print. You can distribute to 150+ Stores. They also offer publishing options.

  4. Ditto Music For just $19 a year you can distribute as much music as you want. They state you keep 100% of your royalties however make sure to read the fine print. They require an international sign up to receive payments.

  5. Record Union Pay a fee yearly based on the amount of projects your distribute.

  6. CD Baby They state an artist keeps 100% Revenue (however please read the fine print. You can distribute to 150+ Stores. They also offer publishing options.

  7. Reverbnation

  8. Symphonic

  9. iMusician

  10. The Orchard (they only work with labels)
