G-Man Entertainment's "Indie in a Major Way Vol. 1" Soars on the iTunes Charts

Your label just recently charted at #23 on the Rap/Hip-Hop iTunes Album Charts with "Indie in a Major Way Vol. 1" How does that feel?

This was our first time ever charting and the feeling was great. It was something as a independent label we have always wanted to do so we are very proud to have hit that milestone and hope to chart many more projects in the future

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

G-Man Entertainment Music Group started as a management company in 2004 based out of Virginia Beach, VA then turning into an independent label in 2012 after rsigning with Sony/Orchard. Since then the label has grown into what we call a Full- Service Entertainment Company. In today's time we establish artists, songwriters, producers, brand marketing, music publishing, merchandising, film & television along with national concert tour promotions.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

The most challenging thing we have had to overcome as a label is being turned down from  different opportunities at times ranging from business partnerships to artists deals and having enough heart to keep pushing forward until you find the right partner in business that can see what you are trying to do and help you achieve that vision.

What do you want people to take away after listening to the label’s music?

As a label we have a variety of different artist and all of them have different stories in their music as well as a different style and vibe. As long as some of the fans can relate to some of the artists on the roster and enjoy the different sounds then that makes us and the artists happy.

Any new music from the label coming out soon?

We have tons of new music coming out from some of the artists that has been with us for a while along with some new talent. After charting on Itunes with "Indie In A Major Way" Vol 1 be on the lookout for Vol 2 coming soon.

What is your label’s greatest achievement?

We have had a lot of great achievements over the years but to date it would have to be charting at #23 on iTunes.
What are 3 words that describe your label’s music?

Real Life, Lifestyle, Inspirational

Which qualities  do you think make a great label?

What qualities make us a great label is first and foremost "Good Business" we pride ourselves on that with anything we do. We our a very organized strategic type of company and push our artists to be the best they can be while educating them with knowledge in the music business just to name a few.

What’s the best piece of advice another label ever gave you?

The best piece of advice another label has given me was always support your artists and don't make them feel like they work for you. Make them feel like it's a true partnership to where they have a voice as well.
Anyone you’d like to thank?

First, I would like to thank God because without him there would be no G-Man Entertainment Music Group. I would also like to thank the whole G-Man Entertainment Music Group family from Staff to Artists and all of the fans who have supported the G-Man brand for many years and those that still continue to support us.

Grindweekly Interview with NRBARZ

1. Hi NRBARZ! How are you? I am good, family. Thanks for having me for this interview.

2. Where are you from? I am from the Caribbean Islands of the Bahamas.

3Why don’t you give us some details about the work you do. What do you specialize in? During the 9 to 5, I currently work for a local financial institution and outside of that, creating and recording music is a passion grind.

4When did you start music? My household growing up was first becoming a fan of music. It was a fond experience on any given weekend or holiday. My mother would play records and cassette tapes. Then later in the years, compact discs from her collection ranging from rhythm, blues, soca, calypso, reggae, gospel and even a little country music to add to that. As I was exposed to a cross-sectional range of genres also on national and international radio weekly chart programs, as a youth, my interest in music started from there.

5How did you get into music? I got my introduction to the music business in an official capacity as a member of a local group called “United” which consisted of a hybrid of talented individuals such as rappers, reggae chatters and singers alike at one time or another sharing a tenure in the group.

6Who inspires you the most musically? I got into music after hearing about the commercial market & the underground side which includes the likes of Hip-Hop songs such as “Respiration” by a pioneering underground hip-hop group known as "Black Star" featuring "Common", which made me want to start writing lyrics and rhyme like those story-telling hip-hop songs like that of “Children's Story" by Slick Rick. Hip-hop artists such as Nas, A Tribe called Quest & the spiritual-minded hip-hop creatives that you may not be familiar with, such as the Tunnel Rats, Deepspace 5, G.R.I.T.S., S.F.C., Lightheaded, Jasper Brown and the Procussions, just to name a few.

7Who is the one artist you wish you could work with? Neo-soul creatives are evolving in their lane. I would love to merge some hip-hop collaboration-wise and for real though, just talented artists who have found their lane and have that mutual respect for others in what they bring to the musical table for us all to eat metaphorically.

8What are the challenges of being an artist? Finding that balance consistently to juggle the responsibilities of daily life commitments while still making time to create music. So, it's just being intentional while at the same time being inspired organically. Feeding on that energy belief is itself a God-given gift.

9Anything else you want the audience to know about you? I will say this concerning your question that there is something for someone. Some songs I record may not be for you at this time or for you at all and some songs that I create or record might be for another but everyone can have their picks. If any of my songs connect with someone, whether in the present or the future, then I have done my job as a recording creative.

Kloud God Rebrands Himself to Joey Trap for 2022 In Hopes to Take the Industry by Storm

If you think the past couple of years have been an incredible ride for the rapper, popularly known as “Kloud God”, his new moniker will manifest all that’s to come as he rebrands himself to “Joey Trap” (Take Risks And Prosper). The change brings life to the acronym and supports his over-the-top proven track record of success. With two albums already released this year, over a million monthly listeners on Spotify, and 600k followers plus 400K subscribers on YouTube, Joey Trap is proving to the world that he’s an artist at the top of his game.

Born in New York, now based in San Diego, California, Joey Trap is the perfect blend of the East Coast/West Coast sound that appeals to audiences everywhere. Beginning to make music at the age of 8, Joey Trap first used Rap as an escape from the street life and temptations that surrounded him.

Influenced by artists such as Kodak Black, XXXtentacion, Travis Scott, and Young Thug, Joey Trap began to dive deep into the studio and released music through Kloud Gang Entertainment. In 2017 and at the young age of 18, he was signed to Asylum Records; a relationship that did not stand the test of time and ended in 2019.

Realizing that he could continue the journey both successfully and independently, Joey Trap built his own label Young Rich Squad LLC, and from that moment on has never looked back. Free, unbound and pushing through any challenges ahead, Joey Trap continues to deliver that undeniable East Coast attitude with some West Coast flavors. Hits like ‘Hova’, ‘Fentanyl’ and ‘Skinny’, have proved that it was the best decision he ever made, and he is now firmly established as an artist in the top tier of rappers. Infectious, authentic with a unique view of the world, his driving beats and incredible story-telling ability, supported by a tight lyrical flow, are a testament to the future road ahead.

With a work ethic producing seemingly an endless supply of music, it’s safe to say that there is so much more to come. His passion for music creation is a lifelong relationship that will unquestionably attract more fans to his world. He doesn’t need to be anyone else to make that happen. He has already arrived and is completely cognizant of the fact that there is no one that can get in his way or stop him.

“Take Risks And Prosper” is more than just a brand, it is the mantra that Joey Trap lives by.

Ringo Starr's Son Zak Starkey Marries Sharna Liguz with Eddie Vedder as a Best Man

Zak Starkey and Sharna Liguz, who have been together for 18 years, tied the knot on their daughter Luna's 1st birthday

It's a match made in music heaven!

Drummer Zak Starkey married longtime love Sharna "Sshh" Liguz on Monday in an intimate ceremony in front of family and friends at the Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood.

The pair, who have been together for nearly two decades, chose the special date in honor of their daughter Luna Lee Lightnin, who was born on March 21, 2021.

"After 18 years together, Luna's umbilical cord kinda tied the knot but we wanted to make it official and share with our friends and family in the U.S., before doing the same in Jamaica and the U.K.," the couple shared in a statement to PEOPLE.

Grammy-winner Starkey, 56, was given away by his father, Beatles legend Ringo Starr, while Liguz's photographer father Andrzej Liguz did the honors on her end.

"Great to be solid with the greatest girl in the world. And to celebrate Luna's No. 1 birthday. Thanks to everyone who came from near, far, wide, abstract and online," Starkey wrote on Instagram. "Our dearest friends in da USA- great to see u at our wedding and experience true party stamina. Feels great to be wed to the woman I have loved for 18 years."

The Australian artist and musician, 37, wore an Alexander McQueen gown for the occasion, which was officiated by British reggae singer Pato Banton.

"This super small affair happened with our nearest & dearest on the day our darling daughter was born," Liguz wrote on Instagram. "A double celebration of love life & all the blessings bestowed upon us. So grateful for our family. Locked & loaded & ready to roll with love."

Pearl Jam rocker Eddie Vedder and The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr served as Starkey's best men, with the latter appearing via video.

Among the couple's close pals who were present for the nuptials were Starr's wife Barbara Starkey, Augusta Tigrett, the daughter of Starr's first wife Maureen, and fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone.

Starkey and Liguz make music together as the duo Sshh, and are also the co-founders of the record label Trojan Jamaica.

NFTs will be part of Grammys Ecosystem says Lin Dai, Co-Founder of 'OneOf'

Legendary producer Quincy Jones threw his support behind NFT platform OneOf as non-fungible tokens continue to explode in the music industry. OneOf recently launched a three-year partnership with the Grammys.

The 64th Annual Grammy Awards, originally scheduled for January 31 but postponed amid the Omicron surge, is finally set to take place this Sunday in Las Vegas.

Big-name performers including K-pop band BTS, breakout star Olivia Rodrigo and newly minted Oscar winner Billie Eilish are all slated to perform, with Trevor Noah returning as host.

Jon Batiste leads the nomination list with 11 total nods followed by Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and H.E.R., with eight nominations each.

However, the lead-up to this year's award show offered something different to fans than in years past — a collection of music-inspired non fungible tokens (NFTs).

The Grammy Awards NFT Collection, which is part of a three-year partnership with the Quincy Jones–backed NFT platform OneOf, comes as the market for NFTs has exploded within the music industry, providing new revenue streams and opportunities for song ownership by bidders and fans.

"To be on the forefront of technology while simultaneously serving the music community with a new and innovative platform is only the beginning of what NFTs are doing to change the musical landscape and to generate more income for music creators," Adam Roth, SVP of partnerships & business development of the Recording Academy, said in a press release.

NFTs will be part of the music ecosystem...This is not just a 2021 or 2022 fad...Lin Dai, OneOf Co-Founder

Various drops throughout the month of March included a free NFT available to all fans, as well as a single "golden ticket" NFT for an all-inclusive travel stipend for two to this year's award show. Prices ranged from $250 to $2,000 with select "tiers" to attract fans at a variety of price points.

A portion of the proceeds went to the Recording Academy's scholarship fund.

"We aim to bring NFTs to the mass consumer," Lin Dai, co-founder of OneOf, told Yahoo Finance during a recent interview.

"We applaud the Grammys for really leaning into this new wave of technology that is fundamentally going to be very instrumental and helpful to artists' careers," Dai continued. He added that the three-year partnership signals a "green light that NFT and blockchain technology is here to stay."

"This is not just 2021 or a 2022 fad...[NFTs] will be part of the music ecosystem," the exec predicted.

Shorty T Charts no.6 on the UK iTunes Rap Chart with “Couple Bucks”

You just recently charted at no. 6 on the UK iTunes Rap Chart with your (song) “Couple Bucks”. How does that feel?

It feels absolutely amazing. Being able to chart as an artist is a major accomplishment so I am happy to be able to reach that goal.

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

Well, it’s been a very long journey. I started writing music back in my hometown of New Orleans when I was in high school. Once I learned how to freestyle I became a battle rapper which is what started my career in music. After a couple of successful years battling, I started to record songs and I’ve been at it ever since. After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, I relocated to California where I literally had to start all over. Luckily for me I was still able to make a name for myself in L.A/Hollywood and that changed everything. I’m now focused on continuing to hit the iTunes charts, hit billboard and work with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

I’ve definitely been through so many challenges but one that was extremely hard was homelessness. Going through a phase like that will for sure make you or break you but if you can live through it, it makes you a much stronger person who can handle tough situations.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

I want people to know that my music is authentically mine. I write, record and perform all of my own songs. I know many artists have songwriters especially nowadays but I genuinely look at my music as an art form and an expression of self. I paint my life with my lyrics so the more you listen, the more you get to know me.

Any new music coming out soon?

Yes, I release music literally every Friday for what I call #FrequencyFriday. I plan to release songs every week for an entire year. I also started a group with my homie Mayjah Payne called Crown Energy so we will be releasing a new project by Summer 2022. Shoutout to Sirr Jones as well.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

Hmmmm, great question. I’ve experienced many great moments. One would be when I opened for Rick Ross on Memorial Day in New Orleans. I performed with two artists in my group at the time that night and we were only supposed to do one song. After the song, the crowd kept yelling for us to do another so the DJ obliged and it was lit. Met a bunch of big artists backstage afterwards that I ended up working with later on.

What are 3 words that describe your music?

Unique -Informative -Fire

Describe your creative process when you write new music.

The music usually speaks to me so that I know what subject to write about. I play the beat and let the ideas flow. Once an idea sounds good enough for me to repeat a few times and the rhythm is right, I write it down and keep going. I focus on four bars at a time and I also enjoy complex rhyme schemes, metaphors and similes. I have an extensive vocabulary so playing with words has always been fun to me.

Which qualities do you think make a great musician?

There are many qualities that make a musician great, but greatness can be measured in different ways. Being unique is for sure one of the main qualities along with lyrical ability, consistency, rhythm, different cadences, the ability to switch up your style on different tracks and authenticity.

What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?

Create what you want and never try to cater to what others want. This was great advice because no matter what you do in life, you will never be able to please everybody. If you do something to make one group happy, the other group will hate you and vice versa. I always do my own thing despite how others may feel about it if it’s an individual decision.

Anyone you’d like to thank?

I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in my life thus far, especially those in my inner circle. Thank you Sammy Issac, Mayjah Payne, Sirr Jones, mom, son, and everyone else who deals with me consistently. Love y’all.

Do you produce your own music? If not, who do you work with?

I work with different people from time to time but my main producer is Sammy Issac. His ear for music is absolutely incredible and I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for him. He’s also my music engineer and business partner.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

Just to be on the lookout for any new projects I’m putting together. Also, I’m helping people grow on social media and I’m offering artist development for those who take their music seriously and are looking for the right connection to put things in place. If that’s you and you have a budget, get at me.

Lady Gaga’s ‘Poker Face’ Powers to Top of iTunes Nearly 14 Years After Release

It’s been nearly 13 years since Lady Gaga made a play for the top of the Billboard charts with her second #1 hit, ‘Poker Face,’ but – if renewed success at iTunes is to judge by – the RedOne-produced tune may be given another hand for chart glory.

Peruse of the updated iTunes Pop chart sees the Lady leaning at #2 – just a few sales away from dethroning Elton John and Dua Lipa‘s ‘Cold Heart’ from the tally’s throne.

Released in late 2008, ‘Face’ (found aboard Gaga’s debut album ‘The Fame’) is no stranger to digital success.

Not only is the high octane tune considered one of her best offerings yet, but it is also one of the best-selling songs of the digital age.  Her second Diamond-certified single (for sales of 10 million+ in the United States), ‘Face’ is an undying favorite of the Gaga’s that’s recently been shown increased love by a fan campaign designed to help ring in the GRAMMY winner’s birthday (March 28).

Coupled with a push on streaming outlets as well, the #Monsters’ push may be just enough to help the EDM banger revisit the Hot 100.

Mayjah Payne Charts at No.14 on UK iTunes Rap Song Sales Chart with “Taxin”

You just recently charted at # (14) on (UK) iTunes Rap Song Sales Chart with your (song) “Taxin”. How does that feel?

It feels magical! My team has some good momentum going right now. I am in gratitude with how things are going.

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

I’m from West Los Angeles born and raised, in the studios is where I spent most of my days. I’ve literally put pain in my music with blood, sweat, and tears! I recorded my first project “Phases of Love” at USC in the dorm-rooms and got a lot of support from the campus. I got the opportunity to open for T-Pain, J Cole, Nipsey Hussle, DJ Quik and other legendary artists. The road hasn’t been easy, but I’m still pushing and running the marathon.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

One of the more challenging moments in my life was when my Father passed away when I was 15. He was the glue that helped hold the family together and when he made his transition, we all felt it. It made all of us turn our hustle up. After my big brother Tony Payne was shot and killed on Manchester, I learned that just surviving in Los Angeles as a black male is challenging enough.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

I just want it to be “eargasmic”. I want people to think my music is ear candy. As Jay Z said on The Black Album, “First I had the streets, then I had the charts; First I had their ears, now I have their hearts..”

Any new music coming out soon?

I have a project “In A Mayjah Way” that should come out sometime in May. Keep a look out for it! It’s gonna be Mayjah!

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

My greatest achievement is my placements thanks to Dahomey Music Enterprises on projects like “Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger” and the Showtime show “The L Word”. It’s amazing to make money off your passion and turning your hobby into a job that can pay bills.

What are 3 words that describe your music?

Timeless, “Eargasmic” , Legendary.

Describe your creative process when you write new music.

It’s all about the vibes! That’s why we call it a record because it is a record in time that records our energy and vibrations and frequencies. I want magnetic records that captivate and draw people in.

Which qualities do you think make a great musician?

Patience and diligent effort make you a great musician. The best artists always want to create something better than they created before.

What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?

Mob Jr who is the cousin of The Jacka in The Mob Figaz told me to stay independent and put in the footwork and that has been solid advice.

Anyone you’d like to thank?

I want to thank everyone who has had part of my success. Special shoutout to Mama Scat Payne and my family in Kansas City, Missouri!

Do you produce your own music? If not, who do you work with?

I do produce my own music. I have been playing piano and making beats since I was a teenager. I work with Sammy Issac, C6ixx and @TCTheCreative on the regular making instrumentals.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

Briannagh D’s “Run My Check” (feat. Jadakiss) Soars on the iTunes Rap Chart

You just recently charted at #38 on Hip-Hop/Rap iTunes Chart with your song “Run My Check" (feat. Jadakiss). How does that feel?

I am absolutely over the moon. To even have my song charting on iTunes is something that I had dreamed of as a little kid. The fact that “Run My Check” broke into the top 40 is such a blessing and I am so grateful for those who purchased the song and have been supporting it. I am also very grateful to Jadakiss for his massive contribution to the song. It’s been such a privilege to see the track take off in the way that it has.

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

I’m originally from New Jersey, and I started singing at a very early age. I began taking vocal lessons at around 8 years old. Before that, I took piano lessons when I was 5, which led to an overall love for music. When I was in middle school, I picked up the steel pan as a second instrument to heighten and strengthen my abilities within music. I would go on auditions throughout elementary school and perform at local events. At 11 years old, I performed a Whitney Houston song in the finalist round at the Apollo Theater, which was a big leap from the local shows I was doing. As I started getting more and more serious, I would perform across the country, and even book international performances at music festivals from middle school into high school. I didn’t start with any industry connections. My parents were not in the industry, nor did they know anyone in the industry. Every connection that I’ve made was built off individual events that I either booked from auditioning or venues that I performed at. I made connections in New York, and after I moved out to Los Angeles right before high school, I made connections on set from television shows that I booked. I don’t think people realize how difficult it is to break in without any connections. Although it is possible, it will just more than likely take you much longer. I’ve been doing this for over a decade and I’m still going.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

I want to first say, that I am incredibly blessed. Simply being alive, in good health, and surrounded by people who care for me, is more than I could ever ask for. I think that everyone has had to overcome challenging periods of time in their lives.  Just like everyone else, I’ve undergone hard times, but I try not to dwell on them.  Nearly every hardship was a blessing in disguise. I can honestly say that some of my greatest struggles I have yet to overcome. However, just like I’ve always done, I am never giving up. There is a quote that I love and I’m paraphrasing, but it says something along the lines of “the race is not for the swift, but for those who endure to the end.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

In general, I try to put out something that I find to be inspirational to a certain extent. However, with this song and previous songs of mine like “Feel the Beat,” I think it’s also nice to have a balance. “Run My Check” is less serious, but I do feel that it can be relatable to many who’ve endured similar monetary situations.

Any new music coming out soon?

I have many unreleased songs, but at the moment, I am focused on giving “Run My Check” my undivided attention.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

I would love to name one event or accolade that moved me internally, but as I become more mature, I have realized that my greatest achievement has been the beauty and struggles within my journey to musical success. There were frequent periods of stagnation and fear for my future as an artist. I look back at everything and am so proud of how much I was willing to endure to get here today. I am so proud of my journey and staying true to myself, my morals, and my beliefs the entire way through. I never gave up. I pushed through the difficult times.

What are 3 words that describe your music?

Overall, I think that each song I’ve put out has a different feel to it. However, I would describe “Run My Check” as playful, rhythmic, and light-hearted.

Describe your creative process when you write new music.

Writing new music is such an exciting feeling. I don’t typically write in the studio, but I have done it a few times before for certain songs. I like going to different spaces and seeing how the environmental shift affects my train of thought. I will have the instrumental track and typically start mumbling melodic ideas for a chorus, and then transition into the pre-chorus, verses, and bridge. Then I crack down on the message I’d like to convey and start writing.

Which qualities do you think make a great musician?

To my mind, authenticity always wins people over. If you are trying to be exactly like an artist who everyone already knows and loves, I think you’re doing yourself a disservice.

What’s the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?

I remember shortly after releasing my first original song in 2013, I was doing an interview about it. The interviewer, who I actually still know to this day, told me that the industry is full of liars, fakers, and fairy-tale makers. I can’t say that he was wrong. There isn’t a successful artist out there who hasn’t gotten swindled at least once.

Anyone you’d like to thank?

I’d like to thank everyone who has purchased “Run My Check” and everyone who’s been supporting the song and music video. I have to thank Jadakiss for adding his magic to the track and my producer who put the beat together, Duane  DaRock. I have to thank my family as well, because they are always vouching for me, and I couldn’t be more grateful for them.

Do you produce your own music? If not, who do you work with?

Over the last four years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with the super producer known as Duane DaRock. He is very skilled and knowledgeable about music, and he creates the coolest beats. Not only that, but he has been one of the few people in the industry who has demonstrated trustworthiness. When you find a fellow musician or producer that you can trust, just understand how rare that is. Value people who will match their actions to their words. He hasn’t let me down, and on top of that, I feel that he’s helped me in defining my sound, while still giving me the freedom to be myself as an artist.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

I would like for everyone to know, that I pride myself in never following others. I have always done my own thing, and at times it can feel incredibly isolating, but authenticity is so important to me. It is what helps distinguish me from other artists. I have always loved pop music, and I wanted to somehow create my own identity and my own brand. On a final note, I also want to encourage other artists to think smart, always have a plan, and never give up.

It's an honor to speak with you today. Why don't you give us some details about you and your success. How did you get to where you are today?

Thank you I'm grateful to be here. I've been working hard juggling a full time job and producing beats, sending out tracks as much as possible. It all changed when I got a message from Mrs. Jones to Amada records and linked up with Sebastian. We put a track out "fire it up" which ended up charting #3 on iTunes. From there I was involved on a compilation album called Red Devil which made its way onto the Billboard compilation albums list and reached #25. It was a great experience to have, and I'm honored by it all, I just want to thank those guys for all that they have done, it's a team effort.

I'm sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Energy, being an independent artist working physical labour has been one of those things were finding the Energy after work to create has been an obstacle. The cold up here in Alberta is something that drains me, it drains us all but somewhere still find the strength to carry on and create. If you love something so much you will find a way to continue.

Why should someone work with you over the competition?

I think that we all should be working at this together, artist with artist showing support for one another, I want them to know that I'm in this for the both of us and if we vibe together we should work together.

What's your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

Be consistent, get up in the morning and work on your skills everyday so you can stay sharp like a chef’s knife, find work so you can save that money and later on invest it into yourself for your goals, take some risks, fail and try some more, keep going and never give in.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success for me is to keep creating the music that I love and being able to care for my family, I find accomplishment in that.

In five years, I hope to be a more well rounded producer, to have worked with more artists and built my brand into something that can take care of my family.

Kelly Derrickson’s “I Am” Dominates the iTunes Charts

You just recently charted #11 on the Country iTunes Album Chart and #77 on the All Genres Album Chart with your album "I Am". How does that feel?

Pretty damn good since this album was written a few years back and is still getting so much traction. It is a very important piece of work for me and all who were involved in the creation of I Am as it tells the history of my First Nation people and the love we have of the earth.

What do you like most about making music?

I love everything about music… I love the process of creation; I love being in the studio and recording more than anything and seeing such an important subject come to life. But mostly I love sharing my music with people and hearing how it changed their lives.

What inspired you to start playing and making music?

Music has been on my soul and heart since I was born. I knew I wanted to sing from the first moment. Music is in my blood, was always around me growing up my family played banjos fiddles and guitars.

Describe your creative process when you write new music.

I don’t have any way to describe my creative process. Sometimes it flows like water coming from the top other times I Have to dig deeper. My dad has been a huge mentor for me in all my subject matters. I believe the songs ultimately come from The Creator.

Who's your ideal musician to collaborate with and why?

I have written this last album with my boyfriend benny and some great Nashville friends and co-writers. Benny is a drummer and I like working with a drummer’s brain. Been very inspiring.

Are there any musicians who inspire you? What qualities do you admire about them?

I’m inspired by musicians who are so passionate about their work. It’s a love that we as musicians would die if we didn’t have that outlet.

Which skills have you gained that help you perform effectively as a musician?

I think it’s important to Be able to take constructive criticism. As a musician you’ll get 100 nos before you’ll get one yes. And to keep practicing and getting better at your craft. And listening to all kinds of music enjoy music like you enjoy the flavors of different foods.

Which qualities do you think make a great musician?

It takes dedication and love to make a great musician it has to come from the heart and soul, or it doesn’t mean anything. You Either got it or you don’t.

Is there another musician you've mentored or trained? Describe what you've done to help them.

I Have mentored and worked with many younger kids and teens that are trying to get into music. I’ve given them singing lessons and lots of encouragement. It’s an amazing feeling to see someone love something as much as you did many years ago and watch them excel!

What's the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?

Music makes the world go around. Keep going!

What's next for you?

Next, I’m in the process of preparing for album #3.

What other awards have you won?

I have won best country artist a Coachella valley music awards, best new artist at The Indigenous Music Awards. I won Best Female Artist two years in a row at The Native native American Music Awards ( Nammys) as well as Best Music Video for I Am.

Anyone you'd like to thank?

I’d like to thank The Creator for giving me a voice and a platform to change people’s minds and hearts.

Fake Donda 2 rises up US iTunes charts

As Kanye West’s ‘Donda 2’ album continues to be exclusive to his own Stem Player device, the rapper’s other albums are doing well on other services because of the hype around the new record. A quick look at the US iTunes hip hop chart shows he has four albums in the top 20. Although, just below ‘Late Registration’ at number eighteen, you’ll spot ‘Donda 2’ by… Wayne Kest.

While the official release of ‘Donda 2’ rides high on the piracy charts – fans largely unwilling to shell out $200 to buy a Stem Player to legally hear it – it seems that someone else has taken advantage of less observant people looking to listen to the new record.

Those who have been following the rollout of West’s new album closely will know that ‘Donda 2’ (currently) has sixteen tracks, runs for over an hour, and features guests including Migos, Alicia Keys, Travis Scott and Future. Also, it’s definitely not available on any legit streaming and download services.

Still, while it may have fewer tracks, a sub-30 minute runtime, and guest names you’ve never heard of, the Wayne Kest album that has crept onto iTunes and the streaming services does share many of the same track titles as West’s version. Anyone listening to it will discover that it’s completely instrumental, though, which should be the final big warning sign that this is not the album you’re looking for.

The Wayne Kest album seems to be a collection of quickly thrown together tracks, possibly pulled from some sort of production music library, which are not of the highest quality. Still, it appears that people are buying it, which means that someone is making money off of it.

There is a producer going by the name of Wayne Kest who has released a number of singles in the last couple of years, although it doesn’t appear to be them who has put out the fake ‘Donda 2’ album. More likely this is someone who spotted an opportunity to fill a hole left by Kanye West, as he refuses to allow licensed services to sell and stream his new album.

All things considered, while West may be pleased with the money he’s made selling Stem Players, it does seem that the rollout of ‘Donda 2’ has been a real boost for music piracy and other sneaky opportunism.

Socal Barbieee’s “Breakthrough” Hits no. 21 on the iTunes Charts

It's an honor to speak with you Socal Barbieee. You recently hit the USA iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap Albums Chart at number 21 with your hit album " Breakthrough,” Why don't you give us some details about you and your success. How did you get to where you are today?

"Well, I was in a female group for a year before we broke up. I decided to continue and pursue my career as a solo artist and I released my first single "unleashed" along with the video, which had over 20K views. I think that's one of my biggest successes so far in this music industry. This motivated me and gave me confidence to put my music together. "The breakthrough" shows how creative I am as a solo artist today".

I'm sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

"I've had to look out for a lot of scammers in the music industry. Getting into the music industry can be complicated at first because I had to learn not everyone is out for your best interest. I've also experienced transphobia in the hip hop culture, which can be complicating getting projects done. I’m happy I never let this stop me, because now I am running into the right people who want to work and make music".

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

"Success to me is accomplished goals, and just doing what you want to do and making it happen. Success will always come".

Let's talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

"I'm a natural born entertainer. I write, I dance. I love creating vision to my music. I would even like to collaborate with other artists. I’m an artist that will break boundaries and barriers in my music. I’m a unique rap artist who wants to perform, connect, and keep making music for my fans".

What are your goals in the music industry? What's next for you?

"I want to perform on bigger shows and platforms in this industry. I have so many projects coming up, including the latest release of my album "The Breakthrough". What's next for me are interviews, and reaching out to radio shows for promotions, plus paid shows and guest appearances. I love this music industry. I won’t let up".

Finally, how can people connect with you?

Melissa B. Bodies National Anthem Performance At Barclays Center Again

Melissa Bailey, known famously for her stage name “Melissa B.” is a USA #1 Billboard R&B / Pop charted artist, speaker, and actress. She is rising up the UK Charts, peaking at #2, as well as rapidly growing in the China Market with over 100k downloads.

This singer brought a sensation to the crowd when she performed the national anthem during the Celtics vs Nets Game. The New Yorker stunned everyone with her amazing vocals and a voice filled with passion and melody before the game. She began taking interest in singing when she was just 5 years old. Knowing that she would become a singer, Melissa kept growing her passion and worked hard to achieve her glory.

As a child, her inspiration was herself and Whitney Houston. Whitney was an inspiration because of “her grace on the stage and how she composed herself as a lady on the stage. I wanted to compose myself like her and she surely inspired me to become a graceful singer,” Melissa added.

Melissa is truly a big fan of Whitney Houston and fans have even termed her Whitney’s potential child in case Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston had one. She’s not only passionate about her music but is also focusing on making changes in the music industry.

Melissa B’s latest release “Physical” is making the headlines and so, sources got to know about it from the artist herself. “I was advised to hit the audience from the first note, taking the stage and then commanding the audience with my voice. That is the best advice I would say I got. As for my music, I tend to create something that is going to last forever. Even if you listen to it after 5-10 years, you’re still going to get the same alluring vibes you got it from day 1,” she added.

“I want to see more indie label artists in the industry. If I had a chance to change things in the current industry, it would be motivating artists to launch their indie labels. This would allow the lost ones to know how to progress in this domain and working on the right aspects of this business. That is what I would love to change and would surely work on changing in the current industry,” Melissa said.

As for inspirations, Melissa gives credit the most to her father. “One of the best things my father did was to teach me to stick with combining music and technology. This is my charm that makes me different from the rest of the music artists in the industry and I’m proud that I listened to my father,” she stated. Melissa B’s performance at the game was no less than any show-stopper and certainly gave her fans a treat for the good.
